No-one should have to die alone in hospital, especially at Christmas.

Our award-winning, charity-funded Butterfly Volunteer Service supports dying patients at the end of their life at the Lister Hospital. Specially-trained volunteers offer face-to-face comfort and companionship to patients and their families.

The vital service costs more than £40,000 a year to run and is reliant on donations from grateful families and organisations.

Our three-year seed funding for the service has just come to an end, so this Christmas we urgently need to raise funds to enable the service to continue to give high-quality care as well as supporting the community throughout and after the pandemic.

Your donations will make a difference

  • A donation of £10 could fund one visit from a Butterfly volunteer.
  • A donation of £20 could fund a comfort package for a dying patient.
  • A donation of £60 could pay for two of our Butterfly volunteers to receive essential training updates.
  • A donation of £100 could fund everything a Butterfly needs to start their role including uniform, ID and lanyard – and also covers their expenses of travelling to the hospital.
