For Hospital Staff

This section of the website is
aimed at NHS trust staff only

East & North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity exists to support East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust by fundraising for projects and appeals that go above and beyond for patients and visitors cared for at the Lister, New QEII Hospital, Hertford County Hospital and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.

How you can get involved

  • Take part in our staff lottery, for the chance to win £1000 every month
  • Fundraise - organise your own fundraising event or activity in your team. We can provide you with buckets, balloons and banners
  • Have a collection can or bucket in your office or ward - did you know that collection cans raise on average £50 per can? Every penny counts!
  • Take part in an event or challenge - whether it’s a sponsored run, trek, abseil or even dry January, we are on hand to support you.
  • Organise a stall in our Charity Corner - if you would like to promote the work of your department or would like a stall in the main concourse of the Lister, please contact the Charity Team to book a space
  • Volunteer - we need support with administration, events and distributing collection cans. If you can offer your time we would love to hear from you
  • Promote our Charity - circulate Charity news and opportunities to your team, like and follow our social media pages and tell your friends and family about us.
  • Become a Charity Champion or Ambassador - support our Hospital Charity by getting involved regularly with any of the options above! We would love to have you on the team and will invite you to Charity meetings, to speak at events and we can offer complimentary spaces to our challenges/events.

How do I put a project or appeal forward for consideration for charitable funding?

In order to give us the best possible chance of securing funds/donations please give us as much notice as possible. We are unlikely to be able to respond to last minute requests.

There are two forms at the bottom of this page, please select the one that applies. First please consider the following and remember that the Charity’s mission is to go above and beyond what the NHS can fund.

Do you have approval from your divisional director?

Will the project benefit the public, patients or our staff?

Is the project in line with the Trust's priorities?

If you are requesting funding for training, is it training which is not ordinarily funded through the trust?

Is the cost proportionate to the number of people benefiting?

Have you considered ongoing maintenance costs?

Have you considered infection control, security and health and safety?

If the answer to the above is yes then please proceed

What is the process?

  • Check your eligibility and your department’s priorities with your Divisional Director
  • Please select and complete one of the application forms below
  • Your application will be reviewed by the Head of Charity and submitted to the Charity Management Team for approval if it meets criteria. You can check the dates for these meetings on the links below, use these time lines to to gage how long before you can expect your project to go live/ equipment to be ordered.
  • If your application has been accepted and your project is approved for funding you will be notified in writing by the Head of Charity
  • Please do not accept your application as successful and spend any funds until you have been notified by a member of the charity team.
