Our beloved mum Sue and devoted wife to Maurice past away on 12th September 2020 after her 4 year battle against cancer. We would like to say a big thank you to all the consultants, doctors and nurses at the Mount Vernon Cancer Center. They worked tirelessly and supported mum every step of the way. They also supported Dad and the family when needed. We want to raise money to help the staff and the unit in helping and supporting others to fight their battle against cancer.
I am fundraising for the Lister hospital to thank them for the care they continue to give for our community.
We lost our mom to Covid in September. We wanted to support a charity in her memory so we looked at causes that care for the terminally ill so we can help ease the pain of families in a similar situation as ours. The 'Lister Butterfly Volunteer Service' stood out.
im fundraising because the butterfly service looked after my dad while he was ill with cancer just before christmas
This Friday 10th April I will run a marathon distance to try and help raise some funds for The Lister Butterfly Service. I will use my Strava App as a form of evidence of proof of distance etc but this isn’t an official event. Although I regularly run 7-10k distances I have by no means trained for this in the slightest and out of boredom during this time I have thought to myself “what can I do to make a difference”. For those that know me will know I can’t run a bath without pulling my hamstring
I am doing this abseiling challenge to help raise money to support the butterfly service - which is very close to my heart. I am a palliative care clinical nurse specialist at lister hospital and the butterflies really make a difference to the care at the end of a patient’s life and the family. I am doing this for all the patients I’ve cared for and to see how far and I can challenge myself x
As I approach my 40th birthday I've decided its time I got of my ever increasing bottom and gave something back to the local community. What better way to start then by Abseiling down the Lister Hospital to raise funds for The Butterfly Service. While I'm really excited to have a go, there is no denying I'm terrified of heights and may need a little push! or failing that the incentive of a nice pot of money raised for this great charity when I complete.
As a Butterfly volunteer myself, I recognise the importance of what we do. We offer a calm, caring and gentle support to patients at the end of their life. Please help us to ensure this vital service continues and grows.
To raise funds for the Lynda Jackson Macmillan centre which provides support and information to people affected by cancer. It was one of the first centres of its kind.
Terry Sofflet passed away suddenly on 30th December 2018. It was his wish to not to have flowers at his funeral, but instead to have donations to a chosen charity.
