Our award-winning Butterfly Volunteer Service has specially-trained volunteers providing care, company and companionship for patients at the end of life if loved ones can't be there with them.

Without the Butterfly volunteers, up to 20 patients were dying alone at the Lister Hospital each month and others were alone waiting for relatives to arrive.

The Butterfly volunteers will be there with patients, reading to them, playing music or simply sitting there holding their hands so they know they are not alone. They also support their families going through that difficult time.

In order to keep this vital service running we must raise over £72,760 each year.

In June 2020 the group's outstanding compassion and dedication was recognised with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to voluntary organisations.
