We have some lovely outside spaces at Mount Vernon Cancer Cancer but they have been in desperate need of a makeover.

We were extremely fortunate and proud to have the late writer, broadcaster and BBC Gardeners' Question Time panellist,  Matthew Biggs, lead a project to transform the spaces after being inspired during his own chemotherapy treatment at the centre. 

Even during Matthew's illness and final weeks he made it his mission to turn the outdoor space into a beautiful, tranquil garden for patients, staff, volunteers and members of the local community.

We are extremely grateful to Matthew for bringing his passion, skills and experience to spearhead this project so that people can enjoy a beautiful outside space, now fittingly called the 'Matthew Biggs Sanctuary Garden'. 

Phase two of the project will begin later in the year.
