  • Our Vision

Our Vision

East & North Hertfordshire Hospitals’ Charity, supports patients staff and visitors across our four hospitals - the Lister in Stevenage, the new QEII in Welwyn Garden City, Hertford County Hospital in Hertford and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) in Northwood, North London.

The Charity funds extra equipment, facilities, research and staff development which complement services provided by the NHS, helping the Trust to reach its objective of being among the best healthcare providers in the country.

We want to be known for the difference we can make for everyone living in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas.

Our Mission Statement

We are here to support and enhance the fantastic care given at the hospitals within East and North Herts NHS Trust by providing extra equipment, facilities and research above and beyond what the NHS can fund, helping the Trust to reach its objective of being among the best healthcare providers in the country.

We believe

  • Our patients should have access to the very best kit and equipment
  • No one should have to die alone
  • Our hospitals should be dementia friendly
  • Volunteers make a real difference to our patients' experience
  • Cancer patients should have access to holistic support
  • Research drives innovation
  • Our patients should have the best possible experience at all of our sites
  • In the magic of play as a distraction when treating children
  • Supporting our staff to feel valued helps them deliver excellent care.

In memory of our Mother Indira Devi Akam

We lost our mom to Covid in September. We wanted to support a charity in her memory so we looked at causes that care for the terminally ill so we can help ease the pain of families in a similar situation as ours. The 'Lister Butterfly Volunteer Service' stood out.
