Cura - supporting patients with cancer Donate Cura at East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity supports patients being treated for cancer who are struggling to make ends meet. We understand that financial worries add additional stress when coping with cancer and we raise money through donations and events to help those most in need. Our History Cura means (in Latin) ‘to care’. Cura was founded in 2012 by two oncology doctors, two former breast cancer patients, a Macmillan Nurse and others with experience in the charity sector. Cura has now merged with East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity to create Cura at East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity. Cura grants are managed by East and North Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity and the founders of the Cura. The merger has also allowed the creation of the Cura Complementary Therapy Space. Post merger, both Jennie Kirk and Richard Davies, the former Chairman and Trustee respectively, of Cura, will remain in a voluntary role for Cura. JENNIE KIRK – Founder Jennie is a former breast cancer patient and one of the founding members of Cura. Jennie considers it to be a privilege to be part of Cura and to make a positive difference to breast cancer patients, especially to be a part of something good that has grown from a very hard period in her life. During her spare time Jennie is a passionate musician, gardener and potter. Richard Davies – Founding member Richard is retired IT executive having worked in the IT industry for over 25 years. Richard first became involved with Cura in 2016 when a work colleague successfully came through breast cancer treatment and inspired Richard to raise over £2,000 for Cura during the Movember charity month. During his spare time Richard is a passionate musician playing trumpet for his local orchestra. Individual grants are assessed by the founders of Cura and East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust clinical cancer specialists. Read how the grant process works. Manage Cookie Preferences
