Croxley councillor, Chris Lloyd, takes on three marathons in a month for cancer centre Croxley councillor, Chris Lloyd, has taken on nine races this year, including three marathons in one month to raise funds for the Lynda Jackson Centre, based at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. Chris started his epic running feat back in June with the St Albans half marathon and will complete his challenge with the Chester, York, and Washington DC marathons, all three during October. Chris also took part in our Moor Park 10 & More event, where he also presented trophies to the winners of each race. So far, Chris has raised £1,650 for the centre which will fund complementary therapy sessions to help patients deal with the side effects of their treatment. Chris said: “Running any marathon is tough, running three in a month is extra tough. Since May, I have done three half marathons and many Park Runs, but not as many training runs as I would have liked. “I have had many family and friends who have had cancer and I want my running to be an encouragement to anyone with cancer reading this.” Beth McNeil, head of fundraising, said: “Chris has been a supporter of the centre for over a decade now, taking on sponsored walks and challenge events to raise invaluable funds to keep our much-loved complementary therapy service going for local people having cancer treatment. “The Lynda Jackson Centre is often called a haven and place of comfort. Local people facing cancer treatment come and have a cup of tea and a chat, get information and advice and they can also enjoy a free relaxation class or receive counselling which all play a major part in their treatment journey and recovery. Our complementary sessions are entirely funded thanks to kind donations from the community, so we are so grateful to charity champions like Chris who make these available for those who need them.” To sponsor Chris visit: www.justgiving.com/page/chris-lloyd-oct2025 and to donate to the centre visit: www.enhhcharity.org.uk/ljmc.
