The Moor Park 10k and Fun Runs, which took place on Sunday 19 September at Merchant Taylors' School, has raised a record-breaking £61,000 for Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the popular event and had 1,150 runners taking part.

A new 10k walk was introduced this year proved very popular with 105 participants choosing to walk, not run.

The team from Northwood College for Girls raised the most money – an incredible £15,000 and counting!

Arun Koshal, parent and 10k team manager for Northwood College for Girls, said: “We were delighted to be involved in this year’s Moor Park run. Parents, staff and students pulled together to make the atmosphere electric on Sunday.

“We wanted to help the local community and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre is on our doorstep. Thanks to our team, the local community, family and friends, we have raised an astonishing amount of money. Every time you look at the JustGiving page it goes up!”

Mount Vernon Cancer Centre treats patients from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and north London and many of those taking part in the runs have a personal connection to the centre and raise funds to thank the centre for care received for themselves, family or friends.

Joe Dunster, Community fundraiser at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre said: “After last year when the run had to have limited numbers to ensure social distancing, it was brilliant to see people running together again and really enjoying the day. It was a fantastic atmosphere and I’m so pleased we raised so much for the centre.”
