Mount Vernon Cancer Centre kicks off partnership with Northwood Football Club Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Charity has announced a new partnership with Northwood Football Club which is raising vital funds in its centenary year to support people affected by cancer. The partnership was formally launched at a special Valentine’s Day event at the club’s home ground, the Skyline Roofing Stadium. Club members, charity representatives and supporters came together under the theme: ‘Love your local hospital, love your local football club, love your community’. The year-long partnership coincides with the club celebrating 100 years since it was formed and wanting that milestone to be marked with more than just football. The partnership places wellbeing, compassion and local community at the heart of the club’s centenary programme. They have a year-long series of initiatives designed to support people affected by cancer, encourage conversation and connection and to raise vital funds for the centre. The funds raised will be going to the much-loved Lynda Jackson Centre which provides emotional, practical and wellbeing support for people living with cancer and for their loved ones. The centre’s work reaches beyond clinical care, helping individuals navigate the everyday impact of diagnosis and treatment with dignity and support. One of the club’s flagship initiatives is ‘In the woods together: a brew, a chat, a match’ which will provide free matchday tickets to patients going through cancer treatment, as well as to their families. Centre ambassador and volunteer, Joan Parsons, attended the launch. She said: “We offer so much more than treatment. We provide services such as massage, reflexology, acupuncture, relaxation classes, mindfulness and art therapy. “We also provide support for people who have lost their hair during chemotherapy, helping them choose wigs, headscarves or whatever they feel most comfortable wearing. There is so much going on, and it is all designed to support each individual.” Beth McNeil, head of fundraising for Mount Vernon Cancer Care Charity, added: “Support doesn’t stop at the hospital door, and partnerships like this make a real difference to how people feel day to day. “We’re incredibly grateful to Northwood FC for creating something that brings warmth, understanding and connection into the heart of the community. Initiatives like this help people feel less alone, and that matters now more than ever.” To find out more or support the partnership please visit https://www.northwoodfc100.co.uk/in-the-woods-together/ Manage Cookie Preferences
