Sally Burton We’re excited to welcome Dr Sally Burton DL, Vice Lord-Lieutenant, to the new Children’s Big Build Philanthropy Board. Sally Burton was appointed Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire in 2026, having served as a Deputy Lieutenant since 2012. She has promoted the Lieutenancy within the county by chairing the Community Engagement Panel and the North Herts and Stevenage Area Panel. She served as High Sheriff of Hertfordshire in 2022-2023. Her focus during the year was on the impact of drug and alcohol addiction, and she has continued to work closely with the University of Hertfordshire as Chair of the resulting Drug & Alcohol project. Sally is a Patron of The Living Room in Stevenage, a charity offering group therapy for adults living with addiction, a Patron of the Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline, and she sits on the Survivors Against Domestic Abuse (SADA) Strategic Board and the Stevenage SoSafe Community Safety Partnership Board. As a Trustee of the Hertfordshire Community Foundation, she has chaired the Grants Committee, which distributes hundreds of grants to voluntary groups across the county. She has also chaired the Fighting Breast Cancer Committee for more than thirty years, raising well over half a million pounds for breast cancer research and care. She has also served as a school governor and chaired many voluntary groups in Hertfordshire. Sally has been a keen supporter of the charity for many years and recently presented the Lifetime Achievement award at our annual Hertfordshire Residential Development Awards (HRDAS) fundraising event. “I’m delighted to be working with this new philanthropy board to raise funds for the new Children’s Unit at the Lister Hospital. It’s a great opportunity for us to come together as a community to create something truly incredible for future generations.” Manage Cookie Preferences
