Support patients facing treatment for cancer at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Donate Help support local people facing treatment for cancer Our highly specialised staff at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre treat over 5,000 new patients each year and the world-renowned centre prides itself on being at the forefront of the latest technology. Although we already lead in making ground-breaking developments in diagnosis, treatment and research into cancer, the need is enormous: cases of cancer are rising - it is predicted that one in two of us will now be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime and that will bring huge worry and distress. Yvonne's story “I am currently being treated at Mount Vernon for stage four liver and lung cancer and the treatment options have been outstanding. I have received support, advice and been signposted and assisted in accessing an amazing range of services which has been invaluable to me and my family. I have been given counselling and complementary therapies by the loveliest team at the charity-funded Lynda Jackson Centre which has really helped me get through some of the darker times and helped me stay positive." Donate We work hard to make diagnosis, treatment and recovery as easy as it can be for patients and their families. With your kind support, we can fund: Equipment such as scalp cooling caps to reduce the risk of hair loss from chemotherapy Refurbishments to inside and outside spaces and items to enhance patient comfort during treatment Complementary therapies at the Lynda Jackson Centre to help patients cope emotionally and physically with their treatment Alaster's story “Nobody can prepare you for the news that you have cancer. The diagnosis wasn’t given to me, but to my wife Rachel, who was diagnosed with triple negative secondary breast cancer at just 33 years old. She was my everything and always will be. Rachel passed away five months after her diagnosis but I couldn’t fault the care she was given by the whole team at Mount Vernon. The staff members couldn’t do enough for us as a family and we simply couldn’t have got through it without the team at the Lynda Jackson Centre who supported us through the most difficult time we have ever had to face. I will forever be indebted to them for making our last few months together as easy as they could be so we could focus on the important things. To thank them, we have set up a tribute fund for Rachel and we will continue to take on fundraising events and challenges as a family in her memory.” Donate Manage Cookie Preferences
