Apparently every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer. The statistical reality is that one in two people will get cancer at some point in their lives. Many make a full recovery and go on to live fruitful and fulfilling lives - in ways that weren’t possible fifty years ago.

Advances in research and our understanding of patient-needs thanks to charities like Mount Vernon Cancer Centre mean that patients are supported and can access vital advice and services that help during treatments and recovery so that they can continue to live well and make precious new memories with their friends and loved ones.

I myself have received support, advice, been signposted and assisted in accessing an amazing range of services and assistance that has been invaluable by the Lynda Jackson Centre at Mount Vernon Cancer Hospital. Which is why one year on from my own cancer diagnosis I want to continue to raise funds to help others who are going through one of the most scary and anxious times of their life to feel less alone and be supported.
