The Magic of Art in Children's ED Donate Help bring art and colour to the Children's Emergency Department We are raising funds to install large scale murals in four key areas in the children's emergency department at Lister Hospital to make the spaces more friendly and welcoming for young patients and families. The children's emergency department can be a daunting place for children and families facing medical uncertainty, distress or when having difficult conversations. The environment can play a powerful role in how they experience care. Our project - The Magic of Art - aims to soften the clinical setting through the magic of art. Ruby, one of our lovely health play specialists said: "The current spaces in the department are used for triaging, breastfeeding, quiet family time, breaking difficult news and waiting for appointments. The murals will transform the areas to make them as calm and welcoming as possible. Art has the ability not only to brighten a room but to lift spirits, reduce anxiety and provide moments of peace and reflection in times of stress. "The murals will be designed by Sash and Yosh, two experienced local artists and who specialise in creating thoughtful and therapeutic artwork. Installation will be carried out by Ian from Aston Klein Printers in Hitchin, who brings a high-quality and professional finish to public art projects. "With your support, we can turn plain walls into spaces of imagination, comfort, and emotional wellbeing. Together, we can ensure that every child and family who walk through our doors feels a little more at ease and a little more cared for." One of the areas that is in need of brightening up.
