Three Rivers District Councillor, Chris Lloyd, is taking on not one, but three marathons this October to raise funds for the Lynda Jackson Centre at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.

Chris will be running the York, Chester and Washington DC marathons during the month as well as two additional local half marathons.

The Lynda Jackson Centre provides support and information for patients who are facing treatment for cancer. We fund free complementary therapies such as massage and acupuncture at the centre to help patients deal with their diagnosis and treatment.

During Chris’s term as chair of Three Rivers District in 2004, he chose the Lynda Jackson Centre as one of his charities to support. He has taken part in the annual Moor Park 10k to support the centre almost every year since then. Chris is pictured with the centre’s manager, Ginnie Abubakar and one of the centre’s original, 20-year-old, T-shirts.

Chris said: "I continue to support the Lynda Jackson Centre as one of my charities because it offers a vital lifeline for local people affected by cancer.

“I am pleased that my fundraising efforts can help the charity continue its fantastic work, but I'd like to remind residents that individual sponsored challenges and large events such as the Moor Park 10k really help the charity to maintain its essential services so I would encourage anyone to donate, fundraise, sign up to events or get involved this year and give back to this much-needed cause.”
