We were delighted to have 3 of our Hospital Charity supporters and 2 of our Trust teams shortlisted for The Comet Community Awards which took place on the 17th May at Hotel Cromwell in Stevenage.
The incredible local heroes included Alfie Pitt, a 9 year old boy who donated £100 of his own money to the Lister Children's ward to buy toys to help other children. Alfie was supported by our Magic of play team when he was diagnosed with leukaemia at 3 years old. Click here to find out more about his inspiring story.

Victoria Barton Specialist Midwife at the Trust was also shortlisted in the 'Nurse of the year' category, for the role she played in project managing an installation of a new children's play area outside the Antenatal department. Click here to find out more about the impact she has made at Lister.

Glyn Doggett, Chairman of the Neonatal Families Group was put forward for the 'Community Champion' Award because of his phenomenal fundraising efforts for the unit. Glyn and the families group have been a driving force in helping to raise over £300,000 for the 'Big Build appeal', a campaign to build a brand new families room on the neonatal unit benefiting thousands of local parents and families each year.

Lister's Short Stay Unit team and the Pet Therapy Dog volunteers were also nominated for their huge impact to patients at Lister so it was a fantastic evening of celebrations for the entire East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
