Our award-winning Butterfly Volunteer Service relies on specially-trained volunteers to provide companionship for end-of-life patients so that nobody has to die alone.

Without the Butterfly volunteers, up to 20 patients were dying alone at the Lister Hospital each month and others were alone when waiting for relatives to arrive.

The Butterfly volunteers will be there with patients at the end of their life if their loved ones can't be there and they will also support their families at that difficult time.

In order to keep this vital service running we must raise over £45,000 each year.

In June 2020 the group's outstanding compassion and dedication was recognised with the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to voluntary organisations.
